Dr. Nicolás Alberto Dosman is the Director of Choral Activities at Colby College and an Applied Music Associate (voice). He is also is the Maine ACDA youth and student activities chair. Previously he served as a conducting fellow with the Continuo Arts Foundation (Westfield, NJ) and was also the director of Casita Sings Children’s Chorus (Bronx, NY).Prior to his arrival to New York, he was a public school teacher in Miami, Fl. During his tenure in Miami, he founded and the Miami Choral Festival. He was also the chairman of the Miami-Dade/Monroe County region of the Florida Vocal Association. Choruses under his leadership have performed at music education conferences and in various cities in the United States. He has also presented at ACDA regional and division conferences. Nicolás Alberto studied choral conducting with Dr. Dino Anagnost at Columbia University and Drs. André Thomas and Kevin Fenton at Florida State University. Prior to his graduate studies at FSU, he attended the Oberlin Conservatory of Music where he received his B.M. in music education with a vocal emphasis. Dr. Dosman is also an adjunct faculty member at Molloy College. His research interests include: male-participation in choral ensembles, music teacher preparation, urban school districts, and addressing the need for social justice in urban schools.
