Jane Chadbourne Kirton, a 1972 graduate of Sanford High School, is the Director of all choral ensembles and the music director of drama productions at Sanford High School. She is also the 6th grade choral director at Sanford Junior High School. Prior to returning to SHS, Mrs. Kirton had a successful tenure as Choral Director at Noble Junior High School. Mrs. Kirton earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education from the School of Music at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham. She is a mezzo-soprano and has performed in various choruses throughout her life. Mrs. Kirton’s directorial experience includes two children’s church choirs, two summer drama camps, the Seaglass Kids of Kennebunk, Maine and several children’s musicals. Along with her choral responsibilities, she is involved in several other activities at the school such as, mentoring new teachers, Sophomore Awareness, Graduation Committee as well as an avid supporter of all athletic activities. Mrs. Kirton serves on the MAAI (Maine Arts Association Institute). She is the team coordinator for the Southern site of the Center For Grieving Children. Mrs. Kirton is the Director of Music at the North Parish Congregational Church, UCC, in Sanford, Maine.
